In the 50’s, the recording studios weren’t what they are today. A few microphones and few tracks on the tape machines made sessions a bit different than today’s workflow. Most of the music was recorded live with very few, if any, overdubs. Recordings sounded more live because they were live, and it’s an energy that is still palpable when listening fifty years later.
The Singularis is an instrument that leverages vintage analog recording process to capture the magic of a bygone era. Oh, and it’s in mono, since the 50’s was in mono. And black and white.
Control the volume of the release samples, progressing from a dry sound to a more resonant one.
When releasing a key on a traditional, mechanical piano, the moving parts return to home with a distinct thunk. This can add a realism and an intimacy to your sound.
When playing a piano with the sustain pedal down, all of the dampers are lifted from all the strings, allowing all them to resonate freely. Here, you can set the volume for how much resonance you want.
Pressing and releasing the sustain pedal produces a certain sound not unlike the thunk of the keys described above. This sound can add realism to your performances. Set the volume of the pedal noise here. You have a few alternate samples of pedal noise that are triggered in a random order, so you don’t get the same sound every time!
Presence has a lot of cool effects! There are a few presets included that shows some of the possibilities that you have for tweaking the instrument. Make your own! Experiment! Be bold! Go wild!
